SUMMARY STATEMENT OF WORK PERFORMED: Utilizes advanced skills in mechanical, electrical, pneumatics, hydraulics, welding and metal working to repair and maintain plant machinery and equipment in compliance with established safety regulations and SOIs. Functions as lead person on shift rotations supervising M1s, M2s and M3s on shift.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS of the job follow. Management may assign other duties and responsibilities as necessary.
- Utilizes advanced skills to complete any work order assignment
- Serves as special project point person
- Utilizes advanced skills to perform boiler and mechanical room operations
- Performs plant start-ups and plant shutdowns
- Performs gauge and instrument calibration
- Utilizes advanced skills for trouble shooting and repair of equipment
- Maintains critical parts inventory
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT:
- Various hand tools (wrenches, saws, drills, hammers, etc.)
- Vertical and horizontal band saws
- Pipe threader (hand and electric)
- Welder and torch
- Electric grinders, porto-band saw, rotary drill, magnetic drill, reciprocating saw
- Radial drill press
- Pneumatic grinders, saws, impact gun
- Drain cleaners (electric and gas)
- Powered industrial trucks and lifts
- Multi-meter, amp meter for electrical
- Lap top computer
- Calibration test equipment
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required; two years vocational or one year of technical strongly preferred
EXPERIENCE:
Minimum of five (5) years of general maintenance required
SPECIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Working knowledge of machinery and physical plant operations
- Advanced skill level equivalent to journeyman in electrical, hydraulics, boiler operations, mechanical, pneumatics
- Certified welder/metal worker
- Basic electronics
- Basic skills in PLC
- Windows XP, Tisoft, Rockwell software
- Word and Excel software
- Ability to work without close supervision
- Ability to solve maintenance-related problems
- Self motivated, aggressive and team oriented
- Supervisory skills sufficient to function on lead person rotation
- Willing to work any shift, including weekends, and rotational call-in schedule on holidays
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is required to
- Occasionally sit, bend, stoop, climb and lift and carry up to 50 lbs. (up to 2 hours/8 hour day)
- Frequently use hands and fingers to handle; reach with hands and arms; walk; stand; talk and hear (up to 6-hours/8 hours day)
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Safety glasses, safety shoes and hearing protection are required.
- The ambient temperature level can exceed 100 degrees in the summer months
- Occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions year-round
- Hard hat and safety harness required when operating manlift or working on ladder above 6 ft. from ground
- Hard hat required if working on floor within 10 ft. of manlift or ladder being used for overhead work
- Protective gloves required for electrical, gas cutting, welding or working with hot materials
Our job titles may span more than one career level. The hourly rate for this role is currently $27-$32/hour. The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
