Position Summary

The Technology Lead, Power Platform & Microsoft 365 Productivity Solutions is accountable for the strategy, architecture, governance, adoption and operational excellence of enterprise productivity platforms. The role owns Power Platform as the primary workstream, including Microsoft Copilot, Power Apps, Power Automate, Dataverse and Copilot Studio, while providing technical leadership and operational oversight for the secondary Microsoft 365 workstream comprising Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business and Microsoft Teams. The position combines hands-on technology leadership with people management, stakeholder partnership, service ownership and measurable business-value delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Power Platform and Copilot Service Ownership (Primary) 

  • Own the enterprise roadmap, target architecture, operating model and service lifecycle for Power Platform and Microsoft Copilot capabilities. 
  • Define and maintain architecture standards, environment strategy, platform guardrails, ownership models and governance controls. 
  • Lead Power Platform Centre of Excellence maturity, including DLP policies, connector controls, Dataverse capacity, Managed Environments, platform hygiene and inventory oversight. 
  • Govern application, flow, agent and automation lifecycles from demand intake and design assurance through release, adoption, support and retirement. 
  • Establish enterprise application lifecycle management practices, including solution packaging, version control, pipelines, release controls and rollback readiness. 
  • Lead controlled Copilot and Copilot Studio enablement through use-case intake, technical fitment, proof-of-concept validation, production-readiness review, agent lifecycle management and responsible AI guardrails. 
  • Promote citizen-developer enablement through standards, reusable components, templates, learning pathways, office hours and a governed maker community. 
  • Drive automation opportunities to improve employee productivity, reduce manual effort and create measurable business value. 
  • Review and approve solution designs, architecture decisions, integration patterns and production releases. 
  • Monitor adoption, usage, AI credit consumption, capacity, licensing and cost optimisation, and provide chargeback or show back inputs where applicable. 

Microsoft 365 Platform Leadership (Secondary) 

  • Provide technical leadership and service ownership oversight for Exchange Online, SharePoint Online, OneDrive for Business and Microsoft Teams. 
  • Guide L2 and L3 support teams on complex incidents, recurring problems, service improvements and cross-workload dependencies. 
  • Define standards for communication, collaboration, content management, sharing, lifecycle management and operational support. 
  • Ensure platform capabilities align with business, security, compliance, reliability and user-experience requirements. 
  • Track Microsoft roadmap changes, Message Centre updates, service health, feature retirements and sunset announcements, and coordinate readiness and mitigation actions. 
  • Support migrations, tenant consolidations, integrations and business-transformation initiatives where required. 
  • Drive automation of administration, provisioning, reporting and operational controls using Power Platform, PowerShell, Microsoft Graph and approved APIs. 

People Management and Team Leadership 

  • Lead, coach and develop a high-performing team of platform engineers, administrators, developers and specialists. 
  • Translate the Digital Workplace roadmap into clear team priorities, role expectations, objectives, delivery accountability and measurable outcomes. 
  • Conduct regular one-to-one discussions, provide timely feedback and maintain individual development and career-growth plans. 
  • Build capability through skills assessment, targeted learning, certifications, cross-training, knowledge sharing and succession planning. 
  • Support recruitment, onboarding and role allocation, ensuring the right balance of architecture, engineering, governance, operations and business-engagement skills. 
  • Manage team capacity, demand allocation, dependencies, delivery risks and operational workload; remove blockers and escalate decisions where required. 
  • Foster a culture of accountability, inclusion, customer focus, innovation and continuous improvement. 
  • Represent the team in leadership forums and communicate achievements, risks, resource needs, roadmap progress and business value. 

Governance, Risk and Operational Excellence 

  • Own platform KPIs, service levels, service-health measures, risk registers, support readiness and continual-improvement plans. 
  • Lead major-incident reviews, problem management and corrective-action tracking for the owned workstreams. 
  • Ensure governance controls, technical standards, operating procedures, runbooks and knowledge assets are current and consistently followed. 
  • Partner with Enterprise Architecture, Security, Compliance, Privacy and Legal stakeholders to assess solution risk and align platform controls. 
  • Maintain operational dashboards and provide concise executive reporting covering adoption, reliability, risk, cost and value realisation. 

Stakeholder, Partner and Vendor Management 

  • Act as a trusted adviser to business leaders, product owners, service owners and technology stakeholders. 
  • Translate business outcomes into platform roadmaps, prioritised use cases and fit-for-purpose technical solutions. 
  • Manage relationships with Microsoft, strategic vendors and delivery partners, including delivery quality, technical alignment and issue escalation. 
  • Communicate technical trade-offs, decisions, risks, dependencies and recommendations in clear executive-ready language. 

 

Mergers & Acquisitions Support

Provide architectural leadership for:

  • M&A technology due diligence
  • Tenant assessments
  • Integration planning
  • Tenant-to-tenant migrations
  • Collaboration platform consolidation
  • Identity alignment
  • Governance harmonization
  • Data migration strategies
  • Carve-outs and divestitures

Platform Integration & Automation

  • Define enterprise integration architectures.
  • Design solutions leveraging:
    • Microsoft Graph
    • REST APIs
    • Power Platform Connectors
    • Azure Services
    • Enterprise Applications
  • Establish reusable integration patterns and standards.
  • Govern authentication, security, and data access requirements.

Stakeholder & Vendor Management

  • Serve as trusted advisor to business and IT leadership.
  • Present architecture recommendations and investment cases to executives.
  • Influence platform strategy decisions across multiple business functions.
  • Partner with Microsoft and strategic vendors.
  • Guide consulting partners and delivery teams.

Required Experience

  • Experience establishing or scaling a Power Platform or Copilot Centre of Excellence. 
  • Experience with Power BI administration, Azure Logic Apps, Azure Functions, Microsoft Purview or ServiceNow integration. 
  • Experience in a large, globally distributed, or regulated enterprise environment. 
  • Knowledge of Agile delivery, product management, change management, and ITIL-aligned service ownership. 
  • Experience designing adoption analytics, executive dashboards and value-realization frameworks for productivity technologies. 
  • Demonstrated experience engaging with executive stakeholders.

Preferred Certifications

  • Microsoft Power Platform: Microsoft Certified: Power Platform Solution Architect Expert (PL-600); Power Platform Developer Associate (PL-400); or Power Platform Functional Consultant Associate (PL-200). 
  • Microsoft Copilot and AI: Relevant Microsoft Applied Skills credentials for Copilot Studio, agent creation, Power Platform or responsible AI; Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Engineer Associate where appropriate. 
  • Microsoft 365 and Identity: Microsoft 365 Certified: Administrator Expert; Teams Administrator Associate; Identity and Access Administrator Associate; or equivalent current Microsoft role-based certification. 
  • Cloud and Architecture: Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert; TOGAF Enterprise Architecture certification. 
  • Service, Delivery and Change: ITIL 4 Foundation or Managing Professional; PMP or PRINCE2; Scrum/Agile or SAFe.
