Who will you be working with? 

Wabtec’s Digital Intelligence Signaling & Systems team is a recognized industry leader in the successful delivery of complex integrated system projects. These projects involve signaling, train control, communications, and back-office solutions with a strong focus on project execution, schedule adherence, and customer satisfaction 

  
How will you make a difference?  

As a member of the Safe Working team, the role is responsible for supporting rail technology construction, commissioning and maintenance activities across the Rail Network while ensuring the highest standards of rail safety and operational compliance.  

The position works closely with construction managers, supervisors, testing teams and client representatives to safely coordinate access to the rail corridor and facilitate critical project works in accordance with client rail standards and procedures. 

 

Where is the position located? 

Pilbara Region – FIFO Even time roster (2 weeks on / 2 weeks off) 

 

What will your typical day look like? 

  • Coordinate safe access to the rail corridor for construction, commissioning and maintenance activities. 

  • Ensure all rail safety standards, network rules and operational procedures are adhered to at all times. 

  • Liaise with construction managers, supervisors, testing teams and client representatives to support project delivery outcomes. 

  • Monitor and maintain compliance with client Rail Network requirements and safe working systems. 

  • Support rail technology, signalling and commissioning activities within operational rail environments. 

  • Identify and report safety hazards, risks and incidents in accordance with company and client procedures. 

  • Promote a strong safety-first culture across all project activities. 

  • Work collaboratively within multidisciplinary project teams to ensure efficient and safe execution of works 

  • Participate in site safety meetings, pre-starts and operational briefings as required 

 

What do we want to know about you? 

  • Current TOA qualification on the BHP Rail Network. 

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience operating as a TOA. 

  • Current BHP rail competency (or recently held and able to be revalidated). 

  • Ability to obtain or hold a current Category 1 Rail Medical. 

  • Current Australian Driver’s Licence. 

  • Strong understanding of BHP Rail Network rules and procedures. 

  • Excellent communication and leadership skills. 

  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and compliance. 

  • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams. 

 

Highly Regarded 

  • Current TWA qualification. 

  • Current LPA qualification. 

  • Previous experience supporting rail technology, signalling or commissioning projects. 

  • Pilbara FIFO experience. 

  • 4WD qualification. 

  • Certificate IV Training & Assessment. 

  • Additional BHP rail competencies.
