How will you make a difference?
As a member of our flagship locomotive manufacturing operations facility, the Final Test Manufacturing Engineer provides technical expertise for a team of production technicians. In this role, you will utilize your experience and expertise and own responsibility for all elements of manufacturing quality in their assigned area within the Ft. Worth Locomotive plant (TXL). For our Final Test area, The Manufacturing Engineer demonstrates leadership in communicating business goals, programs, and processes for an area or business segment. In this role you will utilize your experience or expertise to solve problems by working with teams to resolve manufacturing and quality problems related to methods, processes, tooling, equipment and design.

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Undergraduate degree from an accredited university or college (or a high school diploma/GED with at least 4 years of manufacturing experience)
- Due to the production and process supervisory nature of this role, it is not available for remote work.
DESIRED:
- Preference will be given to applicants with Engineering experience in a dynamic manufacturing environment, a Bachelor’s or Advanced Degree in Engineering or Applied Science highly desired
- Understanding of finance and business drivers, able to communicate engineering changes on long term plans
- Strong oral and written communication skills, ability to communicate across levels and within a complex matrix
- Background in mechanical systems and electrical troubleshooting
- Expert level locomotive knowledge in required commercial testing
- Managerial level presentation skills, must be able to sell ideas and influence others
- Outgoing, energetic, passionate, and positive attitude about change
- Willingness to interact with customers and visitors to explain the testing procedures
- Strategic and clear thinker that solves and prevents problems

What will your typical day look like?
- 4-day (Monday through Thursday), 10-hour shift work week. Shift hours are 3:15PM - 1:45AM (2nd Shift). Must be able to work scheduled shift hours.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing methods and create process routings and manufacturing instructions
- Create locomotive test plans using engineering system functional specifications with input from manufacturing test team
- Design and build / procure necessary tooling and finishing within budgets
- Lead team in learning new test processes by education the production team on prototype locomotive builds
- Support equipment upgrades and conduct cost / benefit analysis for process changes
- Drive process improvement / cycle reduction initiatives via safety and productivity improvements
- Manage high impact process and quality improvement projects yielding significant reduction in defects and increased productivity in the work group / department
- Assist in out of process testing issues by providing troubleshooting expertise with input from remote monitoring and diagnostics team
- Provide supporting documentation to enhance training for new test technicians
- Utilize lean-manufacturing principles and participate in action workouts to improve process capability, reduce overall costs and increase capacity
- Collaborate with other salary staff on the test support team to cover responsibilities and share in equal workload distribution
- Reliable and predictable attendance is a prerequisite for this role as it is directly tied to weekly production, but may also require overtime as needed.

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The salary rate for this role is currently $62100-85300 The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
