Who will you be working with?
The NPI Buyer will manage the procurement process for all NPI parts of assigned commodities, own the day-to-day management of a group of suppliers, and be the point of contact between supplier and Wabtec. The position requires an understanding of the concepts, methods and procedures necessary to enable sourcing execution, while adhering to standard work.
How will you make a difference?
As a member of the NPI Fulfillment group, you will primarily be responsible for the qualification of new products and management of purchase orders. You will interface with suppliers and internal Wabtec customers daily. The position provides opportunities to work closely with sourcing, quality, engineering, and manufacturing operations. This position is an integral part of how we deliver finished products to our global customers.
What will your typical day look like?
- Direct RFQ activities to ensure timely supplier quotations
- Analyze purchasing requisitions and take actions as necessary
- Issue purchase orders and complete all PO maintenance activities
- Monitor supplier development schedules; work proactively to highlight risks and identify potential impact to delivery schedules
- PPAP execution; monitor and expedite supplier qualification process steps with appropriate functions as necessary.
- Premium transportation – Execute premium transportation process as required for assigned parts
- Tracking of material to ensure delivery on a timely manner
- Work with vendors to avoid risk and future impact to production
- NCMR (Non-Conformance Materials Report) standard work – Review weekly report of non-conforming material from suppliers and begin return work authorization with suppliers.
- Review No Promise trends; work proactively to make sure suppliers continue to ship on time for future orders
- Logistics tracking – Track load information for international suppliers to keep regular flow of production material; serve as early warning system for key shipments falling behind.
- Part handoffs – complete standard work weekly to hand off parts that meet requirements to the production fulfillment ream
You may also be asked to perform other duties outside of your function or trade, for which adequate training will be provided if necessary.
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university or college or 2 years of experience in manufacturing, materials, and/or Sourcing
