Who will you be working with?

You will act as the primary onsite technical interface between the customer and Wabtec, working closely with Product Support Engineers (PSEs), engineering teams, and service delivery teams. You will also interact directly with site crews and operational stakeholders to ensure effective deployment and support of CAS systems.

You will ensure high-quality, first-time-right installations of Collision Awareness Systems (CAS), providing expert troubleshooting and commissioning support. You will play a critical role in knowledge transfer, building site capability, and strengthening Wabtec’s technical presence onsite while ensuring safe and reliable system performance.

Required

• Trade qualification in HD Auto Electrical, Electrical or Mechatronics.
• Strong diagnostic capability across hardware, software, configuration, and integrated systems.
• Ability to work independently in a site environment with minimal supervision.
• Strong communication skills with both operational and technical teams.
• Commitment to safety, quality, and first-time-right delivery.

Desirable

• Experience supporting Collision Awareness Systems or similar mobile equipment technologies.
• Mining or heavy industrial site experience.
• Experience commissioning or supporting safety-critical systems.
• Exposure to software-enabled or sensor-based systems.
• Experience working on rostered onsite engagements.

What will your typical day look like?

Provide specialist onsite support for CAS installations across HV, MV, and LV fleets, ensuring quality, compliance, and performance standards are met.
Diagnose and resolve complex hardware, software, configuration, and logic issues.
Support Gen 3 CAS readiness activities including validation of vehicle configurations, wiring standards, and infrastructure suitability.
Identify and mitigate installation and quality risks to ensure first-time-right delivery.
Upskill site personnel through hands-on guidance, mentoring, and reinforcement of installation and diagnostic standards.
Assist with software updates, configuration changes, and logic uploads in coordination with remote PSE teams.
Validate system changes onsite and capture diagnostics for structured escalation.
Maintain clear communication with site teams and Wabtec remote support functions.
Act as the primary onsite technical representative, reporting progress, risks, and issues in a structured manner.
Ensure compliance with Wabtec and site HSE requirements and maintain accurate records of all onsite activities and corrective actions.

Role Purpose

The Technical Specialist – Onsite Support provides dedicated, specialist-level onsite support for Wabtec Collision Awareness Systems (CAS) across installation, stabilisation, and BAU operations. The role ensures high-quality delivery, effective troubleshooting, capability building, and a strong technical interface between Wabtec and the customer.
