Role Summary/Purpose:

Wabtec Simulation team is a global team based out of India, USA and Brazil. This team consists of simulation experts and lab technicians dedicated to providing high fidelity, deterministic, reliable simulation environments for the latest in Locomotive and Marine & Stationary technologies. This team interfaces with several cross functional teams across Wabtec with the vision to develop right level of simulation technology, to help cross functional team verify and validate new locomotive technologies and other products developed by Wabtec.  A systems mindset, having a broad view of the product, and the ability to go deep with specific projects will be crucial to success. This role of Simulator Engineering Manager is responsible for the Wabtec Simulation team based out of India.

This leader will drive new technology development in the Simulation environment, processes, plans, procedures, workflows, tools and best practices for the Simulation team. The role is based out of Bangalore, India.

 

Essential Responsibilities:

As the Simulator Engineering Manager, you will provide strategic and fulfillment leadership to a team of

Simulation Engineers, Computer Scientists and Sim Lab technicians.  You will work cross-functionally with engineering teams as well as teams outside of engineering such as Product, Sourcing and IT. Working within a matrix environment, you will be responsible for execution of Simulation Hardware, Simulation Platform and Simulation code. You need to ensure quality Simulator products for internal customers, that meet key Locomotive and M&S product and project requirements in compliance with engineering standards & practices.

  • Responsible for new Simulator development for Locomotive and Marine & Stationary requisition applications across all supported platforms.

  • Lead and provide direction to a team of simulation engineers and lab technicians working cross-functionally with systems engineering, product management, project management and Validation team.

  • Drive on-time simulator delivery, local and remote availability of Simulators

  • Responsible for maintaining Simulator Lab

  • Responsible for Configuration Management of simulator software releases and software tools

  • Manage Simulator Architecture Standards and Guidelines

  • Lead efforts for simulator new project proposals

  • Conduct Design Reviews

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

Master’s in Electrical or Electronics or Computer Engineering with 8+ years’ experience OR Bachelor's in Electrical or Electronics or Computer Engineering with 10+ years of relevant experience in Simulator product development, new product introduction (NPI) and project management in rail or industrial sector

  • Proven strong interpersonal, communication, influencing, analytical and leadership skills

  • Proven organization and management skills

  • Expertise with software requirements, software change management, defect tracking, software build and release processes.

  • Knowledge of simulator architecture principles, embedded systems, and Matlab/ Simulink tools

  • Proficiency with virtualization technologies, including VMware, VirtualBox, QEMU, or Docker

  • Design and development experience with embedded and real-time software systems (Linux, QNX)

  • Design and development experience in C/C++, with a focus on developing Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI) using the QT framework

  • Experience with automated scripts using languages such as Python, Bash, or Perl. 

  • Experience with Board Support Package and device drivers

  • Experience with serial, Arcnet, CAN and Ethernet based communications standards and protocols

  • Knowledge of DevOps, Servers

  • Demonstrated ability to meet or exceed goals and objectives in a matrix organization

  • Pro-active, organized, motivated and results-oriented team player, with strong sense of ownership, accountability and sense of urgency
