The company operates the Lokomotiv Kurastyru Zauyty (LKZ) manufacturing facility in Astana, producing Evolution Series locomotives for Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) and regional customers. In addition to manufacturing, Wabtec delivers engineering, maintenance, and long-term service solutions, supporting reliable rail operations and contributing to Kazakhstan’s role as a key hub on the Trans‑Caspian (Middle) Corridor.
Who will you be working with?
You will work closely with the Finance, Procurement, Operations, IT, and Project teams across the organization. This role acts as a key partner in ensuring accurate accounting of vendor transactions, compliance with accounting and tax regulations, and effective collaboration with internal stakeholders and external contractors. You will also support business transformation initiatives related to ERP and digitalization projects.
How will you make a difference?
As a member of the Accounting & Finance team, you will be responsible for managing accounts payable processes, ensuring accurate cost allocation, maintaining compliance with accounting and tax requirements, and supporting financial reporting activities. You will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity of financial records, supporting audits, and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives, including ERP implementation and enhancement projects. Your expertise will help ensure efficient financial operations and regulatory compliance across the organization.
What do we want to know about you?
- University degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in accounting, finance, or a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of accounts payable processes and cost accounting.
- Experience working with ERP systems, preferably 1C.
- Experience participating in ERP implementation, system upgrades, or other IT-related finance projects.
- Knowledge of accounting treatment for current repairs and capital repairs of fixed assets.
- Experience reviewing and preparing contracts with suppliers and contractors.
- Understanding of tax legislation, including VAT offset procedures and requirements for accounting documentation.
- Experience preparing and reconciling vendor statements.
- Previous involvement in tax audits is preferred.
- Knowledge of management accounting is an advantage.
- Experience supporting internal and external audits.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications.
- Proficiency in English is must have
- Legal authorization in Kazakhstan is required
What will your typical day look like?
- Process and manage accounts payable transactions.
- Record supplier invoices in the 1C system and allocate costs to the appropriate cost centers.
- Collaborate with the Procurement department regarding supplier documentation and payment processes.
- Review and support contractor and supplier agreements.
- Participate in ERP implementation, enhancement, and system upgrade projects.
- Maintain accounting records related to repair and capital expenditure activities.
- Prepare and reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with accounting policies and tax regulations.
- Support VAT accounting and documentation processes.
- Assist during tax inspections and provide required documentation.
- Participate in internal and external audits.
- Identify process improvement opportunities and contribute to finance transformation initiatives.
- Support management reporting and financial analysis activities.
