SUMMARY
The Controls Engineering Interns are responsible for tasks and projects under the direction of the Controls Engineering Manager. Projects and tasks will focus on the design, component selection, programming, and documentation for Nordco equipment.
REPORTING
- Controls Engineering Manager
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in designing, programming, and documentation of Nordco’s electrical components
- Update electrical schematics and assembly drawings of varying complexity within the Controls Department
- Assist in conducting bench-top tests for new and existing components
- Assist in the development of technical publications, such as operator and maintenance manuals
- Work closely with the Controls Department to support Production and other manufacturing initiatives
- Utilize basic computer software to develop or maintain spreadsheets, databases, documents, and to communicate with various departments within the organization
- Acquire, plot, and analyze data with the assistance from a mentor
- Build relationships with people within the organization to help complete tasks
- Other job duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Education
- Pursuing a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical/Computer/Software Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent
- GPA of 3.0
Experience
- Familiarity with 3D modeling software, Creo preferred
- Familiarity with Promise-E, AutoCAD Electrical, or other electrical schematic drafting software
- Familiarity with C++
Technical Skills
- Basic knowledge of electrical symbols, schematics, and circuits
- Basic knowledge of object-oriented software design patterns
- General mechanical design skills
- Mechanical aptitude to physically work on machinery
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office programs

WORKING CONDITIONS
Work is primarily light duty and requires the ability to regularly lift and carry objects weighing up to 20 pounds. This position requires the ability to sit, stand and walk unassisted. Requires the use of hands and fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is required to talk and hear. Normal correctable vision is required.
