Job Description: Graduate Engineer Apprentice – Locomotive Field

Position Title:

Graduate Engineer Apprentice

Department:

Locomotive Maintenance

Location:

Gandhidham

Reporting To:

Service Technical Manager

Job Purpose:

To support the maintenance and operation activities of locomotives while gaining hands-on experience and technical knowledge under the guidance of senior professionals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in routine inspection and preventive maintenance of locomotives.
  • Support troubleshooting and repair of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic & heavy repair.
  • Maintain the reports with shed control team
  • Learn and apply standard operating procedures (SOPs) for locomotive servicing.
  • Aid in identifying faults and reporting issues to supervisors.
  • Maintain proper documentation of maintenance activities, checklists and shed operation activity of locomotive.
  • Follow safety standards and compliance guidelines strictly.
  • Support breakdown maintenance and emergency repair activities.
  • Participate in training sessions and technical workshops.
  • Coordination with Prompt response team during locomotive operations

Educational Qualifications:

  • B.Tech in:
    • Mechanical Engineering
    • Electrical Engineering

Skills & Competencies:

  • Basic understanding of locomotive systems / diesel engines
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Willingness to learn and adapt
  • Good observation and problem-solving skills
  • Basic knowledge of tools and equipment
  • Teamwork and communication skills

Experience:

  • Freshers pass out 2025/ 2026
  • Prior internship/ in railways or heavy machinery is an advantage

  • Ability to work in shifts
