Job Description

We are seeking a motivated Mechanical Drafter to join our team and grow within a dynamic engineering environment. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience across a variety of drafting disciplines, including mechanical, piping, and refractory design.

You will work closely with engineers and other team members to develop complex arrangements and layouts using reference drawings and engineering specifications. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build technical expertise and expand their drafting capabilities.

This is a full-time, in-office position based in Charleroi, Pennsylvania, Candidate must either reside locally or be willing to relocate at their own expense.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Create complete sets of design and detail drawings based on documents provided by Engineering or Senior Designer.
  • Create 3D design models as part of the drafting process.
  • Create Combustion System Piping Schematics under the general direction of the Combustion Engineer.
  • Integrate written and verbal communications into the design and detail drawings.
  • Prepare engineering documents for customer submittal.
  • Prepare finished drawings for customer review and manufacturing use. Provide finished drawings for distribution.
  • Examine and check engineering drawings for compliance with cited specifications.
  • Complete time sheets to track time spent designing each project.
  • Update and maintain drafting records as required

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Drafting
  • A strong mechanical background with some structural experience.
  • Must have a working knowledge and proficient in AutoCAD mechanical drafting software, Autodesk Inventor, Microsoft Suite products, Office, Adobe Reader, imaging software, and other related software.
  • Experience with and proficiency in Autodesk Inventor is preferred.
  • Highly flexible with strong organizational skills and the ability to achieve tight deadlines.
  • A self-starter with the ability to plan and prioritize work and manage multiple projects at the same time.
  • Very detailed oriented with high attention to accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage and influence cross functionally.
  • Takes responsibility and is accountable for expectations and actions.

Additional Information

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The hourly rate for this role is currently $22.00-$32.00. The actual rate offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. More information on offered benefits, which include health, welfare, and retirement, are available at mywabtecbenefits.com.
