Position Summary

Bloom Engineering Company is seeking a highly experienced Senior Field Service Engineer to support customers throughout the United States. This role serves as a primary technical authority and customer-facing service representative, responsible for leading onsite commissioning, advanced troubleshooting, maintenance, and long-term support of industrial combustion and heating systems.

The ideal candidate brings deep hands-on technical expertise, strong customer relationship skills, and the ability to operate independently with scheduling and administrative support from the Field Service Coordinator. Effectiveness will require collaboration with U.S.-based engineering, sales, and service teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead commissioning, troubleshooting, maintenance, and optimization of new, existing, and retrofitted industrial combustion systems across the United States and occasionally internationally
  • Perform advanced diagnostics and root cause analysis on complex mechanical, electrical, and controls-related system issues
  • Review, adjust, and support PID loop programming in single- and multi-loop control systems
  • Utilize, interpret, and analyze data from electronic diagnostic tools such as multimeters, pressure and flow transmitters, and combustion analyzers
  • Serve as a primary technical liaison for customers, including plant operators, engineers, maintenance teams, and management
  • Provide expert technical recommendations to improve system performance, reliability, efficiency, and safety
  • Mentor and support less-experienced service personnel, contractors, or local support resources as required
  • Collaborate closely with U.S.-based sales, engineering, project management, and service teams to resolve technical challenges and support ongoing projects
  • Prepare detailed service reports, timesheets, and technical documentation following each field assignment
  • Ensure strict compliance with Bloom Engineering safety standards, customer site requirements, and applicable local safety regulations

Commercial & Customer Support Responsibilities

  • Support Bloom Engineering’s commercial efforts by:
    • Making spare parts recommendations to Bloom Engineering’s installed customer base
    • Gathering detailed technical information on customer heating applications to support corporate engineering, applications, and sales teams in solution development and proposal preparation
    • Collecting and relaying technical details related to customer warranty claims
  • Build, maintain, and strengthen long-term customer relationships, acting as a trusted technical advisor and representative of Bloom Engineering

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, Chemical, or equivalent technical discipline).
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of field service experience supporting industrial combustion or heating systems
  • Strong understanding of fundamental combustion principles, including air‑to‑fuel ratios, flammability limits, NOₓ formation mechanisms, and available heat
  • Minimum of two (2) years of direct experience working with Bloom Engineering equipment
  • Demonstrated experience supporting industrial customers
  • Working knowledge of NFPA 86 and comparable industrial combustion safety codes
  • OSHA 10-Hour and NFPA 70E safety training (or ability to obtain)
  • Valid driver’s license required
  • Valid passport or ability to obtain a passport
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 80% of the time (90+% of travel will be in the US)
  • Able to write reports in English to summarize findings and work completed

Desired Characteristics

  • Extensive experience with industrial combustion systems, burners, furnaces, and heat-processing equipment
  • Strong background in calibration, configuration, and analysis of mechanical and electrical instrumentation
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics
  • Experience following and troubleshooting PLC ladder logic
  • Strong working knowledge of PID control systems and industrial instrumentation
  • Strong understanding of industrial safety standards and field best practices
  • Advanced troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications
  • Proven ability to operate independently while managing customer expectations and complex field assignments

The salary rate for this role is currently $68900-98200 The actual salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, education, business needs, market demands and work location.
